A Glimpse into IAICT 2024

The IEEE International Conference on Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, and Communications Technology (IAICT) has established itself as a premier platform for exploring the convergence of these transformative forces shaping our world. Since its inaugural event in 2014, culminating in the recent hybrid conference held from July 4-6, 2024, IAICT has consistently delivered high-caliber presentations and fostered collaboration among researchers, academics, and industry professionals.

Organized and sponsored by the IEEE Indonesia Communications Society Chapter, IAICT 2024 stands on a solid foundation of bridging the gap between industry and academia. The conference garnered the support of 357 International Technical Program Committee (TPC) members from 58 countries and 181 reviewers from 43 countries. It received over 133 submitted papers from 24 countries, with 79 papers accepted after each paper underwent rigorous review by a minimum of three international reviewers. The average number of reviews per paper was 5.6, and the acceptance rate stood at 59.4%, ensuring the quality of the papers presented at the conference.

The IAICT 2024, held as a hybrid conference at the Bali Rani Hotel, was inaugurated by Mr. Muhammad Nasrun, chair of the conference and representative of the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter. The opening ceremony featured a mesmerizing Balinese dance performance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bali. The first session began with a keynote speaker session moderated by Dr. Steve Chan from Harvard University.  The first keynote speaker, Assoc. Prof. Danilo Pelusi, Ph.D. from the University of Teramo, who virtually joined us, presented an insightful talk on “Suitable Ways to Combine Fuzzy Techniques and Evolutionary Algorithms.” His presentation highlighted innovative approaches and sparked engaging discussions among the attendees. Following this, the second keynote speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemas Muslim Lhaksamana, delivered a thought-provoking address titled “Humanity-Centric Machine Learning to Address Global South Challenges.” His in-person presentation underscored the importance of applying machine learning technologies to solve pressing issues in the Global South, emphasizing ethical considerations and community impacts. The keynote session concluded with a lively Q&A, allowing participants to delve deeper into the topics discussed, and a commemorative group photo to capture the moment.

The conference then delved into a series of paper presentations spanning two days. The first day featured three onsite paper presentation sessions and two online paper presentation sessions. Session chairs included Dr. Janghoo Yang, Dr.Angelina Prima Kurniati, Dr. Faisal Budiman, Dr. Asep Suhendi, and Dr. Hanif Fakhrurroja. The day concluded with a gala dinner attended by participants and organizers.

The second day continued with online paper presentations divided into two sessions and two breakout rooms, chaired by Dr. Reza Rendian Septiawan, Dr. Gandev Bayu Satrya, Dr. Fiky Yosep Suratman, and Dr. Inung Wijayanto. The conference was officially closed by Mr. Muhammad Nasrun.

Despite the conference’s conclusion, the excitement extended into a captivating one-day tour in Bali for interested participants. The tour encompassed visits to renowned Balinese destinations, savoring authentic Balinese cuisine with the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Batur. The tour participants expressed their delight in the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich culture and natural beauty of Indonesia.

IAICT has undoubtedly established itself as a premier platform for exploring the cutting edge of Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, and Communications Technology. The conference’s commitment to fostering collaboration, delivering high-quality presentations, and providing an enriching experience has garnered the recognition and respect of the global research community.
