MATARAM – Telkom University Purwokerto, supported by the IEEE Communications Society, has once again organized the annual international IEEE conference on Communication, Network, and Satellite (COMNETSAT) 2024 in Mataram, Lombok. This event held from November 28 until November 30, 2024.
This esteemed platform for publishing, aimed at academics, industry professionals, andgovernment representatives, was conducted in a hybrid format which combining online and offline participation. It is jointly organized with Universitas Bumigora (UBG) and Universitas Mataram (UNRAM), which serve as local co-hosts for the event. This marks the thirteenth annual event organized by the IEEE Indonesia Section, IEEE Communications Society Indonesia Chapter, and IEEE AES/GRS,” stated Dr. Wahyu Pamungkas, S.T., M.T., General Co-Chair of COMNETSAT 2024, during the event held at Hotel Lombok Raya on Thursday, November 28.
The international scientific seminar presented 132 papers selected from 235 submissions originating from 18 different countries. “Not all submissions to the international call-for papers can be accepted or presented,” Dr. Wahyu explained. “Only those that meet the stringent requirements and quality standards set by IEEE COMNETSAT are eligible for presentation and publication in IEEE Xplore.” He further noted, “Once published in IEEE Xplore, the papers are typically indexed by Scopus without delay.”
This year’s theme, Pioneering Broadband Connectivity with Artificial Intelligence Technology, emphasizes advancing telecommunications to ensure more equitable access across Indonesia. Lombok was chosen as the venue in part due to its substantial potential for business investment and development. The development of telecommunication technology in Lombok, especially in Mataram City, is relatively advanced, marked by internet connectivity comparable to that in Java. However, there are still gaps in fiber optic network coverage in several areas on the island of Lombok.
“There are excellent opportunities for investors to expand their businesses in Mataram and Lombok,” emphasized Dr. Wahyu, a Doctor and senior lecturer at Telkom University Purwokerto specializing in Wireless Communication, Mobile Communication, and Satellite Communication. Dr. Wahyu also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the International COMNETSAT 2024 Conference by submitting papers and strengthening collaboration between industry, academia, and government in Lombok.
“We hope that this event in Mataram, Lombok, will have a positive impact on the growth of tourism, the economy, and telecommunication technology in the region,” he concluded.
