🌏 Success of APCC 2024: Advancing Communication Innovation to New Heights

The 2024 IEEE 29th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC) successfully concluded on November 5th-7th, 2024, in Bali, Indonesia. As one of the most prestigious annual events in the field of communications, APCC 2024 served as a premier platform for exchanging knowledge, ideas, and innovations. Organized by the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter and co-sponsored by the China Institute of Communications, IEICE Communications Society, and KICS, the conference also received support from Telkom University and Universitas Tanjungpura. The event highlighted transformative advancements in communication technologies and their applications.

The 29th APCC marked the fourth time Indonesia has hosted the conference, underscoring its commitment to fostering research collaborations across the Asia-Pacific region. Held fully onsite in Bali, the conference featured pre-conference registration and a welcome reception, followed by three days of engaging technical sessions, keynotes, paper presentation session, and networking opportunities.

Key Highlights of APCC 2024

Day 1 – November 5, 2024

The opening day featured registration and the official opening ceremony, followed by three captivating keynote sessions chaired by Dr. Dong-Hyun Jung, with topics addressing cutting-edge developments in communication technologies:

1. Prof. Dr. Shoji Kasahara (Professor, Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan)

Topic: Performance Modeling of Blockchain Technologies: How Does the Consensus Mechanism Affect Transaction Confirmation and Security in Blockchain Networks.

2. Satoshi Nagata (Senior Manager, 6G Network Innovation Department, NTT DOCOMO, INC.)

Topic: Evolution of Mobile Communication Technology for 5G Evolution and Toward 6G.

3. Prof. Dr. Yang Yang (Professor, HKUST (Guangzhou), China)

Topic: Collaborative Edge Computing for Large AI Models on Wireless Networks.

The day concluded with paper parallel sessions, where each presenter had 10 minutes for their presentation, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. The day ended with a Local Committee & VIP Networking Meeting, fostering connections among participants.

Day 2 – November 6, 2024

The second day, chaired by Dr. Pradini Puspitaningayu, featured two additional keynote speeches:

1. Prof. Dr. Nasimuddin (Institute for Infocomm Research, A-STAR, Singapore)

Topic: Innovations in Reconfigurable Antennas: A Comprehensive Overview and Applications.

2. Prof. Dr. Claes Beckman (Senior Researcher, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, and Icomera AB, Göteborg, Sweden)

Topic: The Successes and Failures of 5G to Meet Its Original Objectives and What We Can Hope for with 6G.

The day continued with paper parallel sessions and concluded with a Gala Dinner, where participants enjoyed networking, fun games, and the announcement of the Best Paper Awards.

Day 3 – November 7, 2024

The final day began with parallel paper sessions and concluded with a Panel Discussion moderated by Dr. Pradini Puspitaningayu, featuring distinguished panelists:

• Prof. Dong Seog Han (Korean Institute of Communication Sciences, Korea),

• Prof. Dr. Takaya Yamazato (Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Nagoya University, Japan),

• Mr. Bernardus Satriyo Dharmanto (Chief Technical Officer, TVRI, Indonesia).

The conference wrapped up with a closing ceremony.

APCC 2024 achieved remarkable success with the active participation of researchers, industry professionals, and technical program committee members.
