IoTaIS 2022 – Activities Report

Hello from IoTaIS’2022!

After last year’s online conference due to pandemic covid-19, The 2022 IEEE International Conference on Internet of Things and Intelligence System (IoTaIS 2022). The conference was held as Hybrid Conference on November 24-26, 2022. This conference was organized and sponsored by IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter and supported by Telkom University, IEEE IoT Initiative and IPv6 Forum. This conference is located at Holiday Inn Resort Baruna, Bali, Indonesia. 

IoTaIS’2022 invites papers, original, and unpublished work from individuals active in the broad theme of the conference. IoTaIS’2022 received 129 submitted papers with 422 authors from 39 countries. After each paper had been carefully reviewed, we accepted 77 papers which is 59,7% of the acceptance ratio, with 287 authors from 28 countries. Finally, 69 papers have been registered with 260 registered Authors from 28 countries.

On day 1, Event opening ceremony IoTaIS’2022 along with welcoming speech from Dr. Istikmal Chair of IoTaIS’2022 and Dr. Bambang Setia Nugroho Chair IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter.  The beating of the gong by Dr. Istikmal and Dr. Bambang Setia Nugroho and inaugurated by traditional balinese dance marked the start of IoTaIS’2022. The IoTaIS’2022 was attended by Prof. Gamantyo Hendrantoro, Vice-Chair IEEE Indonesia Section. 

After the opening ceremony  IoTaIS’2022 and continued with keynote speech moderated  by Prof. Kamran Arshad from Ajman University, UAE also a TCP member at this conference. The first keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Latif Ladid, a Founder & President, IPv6 Forum with speech entitled: “Title: IPv6-based IoT, 5G/6G, Cloud Computing and Blockchain”.  The second keynote speech was delivered by Craig S Wright, PhD Chief Scientist at nChain with speech entitled: “Bitcoin and the Holy Grail: The Importance of Bitcoin as a P2P Electronic Cash System”.  And the last keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Sureswaran Ramadass Professor Emeritus at MUST and Chairman ITU IPv6 with a speech entitled: “IPv6 over 5G”. 

The next agenda was a hybrid presentation of 19 papers presented onsite and 15 papers presented online. The first session presentation was onsite, chaired by Prof. Siba Kumar Udgata from University of Hyderabad, India.  Second session presentation  was onsite, chaired by Dr. Istikmal. And in the third session there were 3 breakout rooms, one breakout room was onsite chaired by Dr. Tacha Serif, an Assistant Professor from Yeditepe University, Istanbul, Turkey and the two breakout rooms were online, one chaired by Dr. Venkat Narayana Rao and one chaired by Dr. Husneni Mukhtar Telkom University, Indonesia. 

After the presentation, the next agenda was a Gala Dinner in the Restaurant Venue. The participants and committee IoTaIS’2022 enjoy the gala dinner with a live performance of Balinese dance music. The atmosphere and vibe of Bali really make all the participants enjoy the moments. 

On day 2, The schedule was presentation paper, announcement best paper award and closing. The first agenda was a presentation paper that all the presenter and session chair attended online. On this day there were 35 papers presented in 2 sessions with 3 breakout rooms. The session chair in session 4 was Dr. Bambang Setia Nugroho, Telkom University, Indonesia, Dr. Richard Dankwa and Dr. Mahmoud M. Salim, October 6 University, Egypt. The last session that was chairing by  Dr. Khilda Afifah, Dr. Reza Rendian Septian and Gandeva Bayu Satrya, Ph.D, Telkom University, Indonesia. After the presentation papers session. Dr. Istikmal as a Chair IoTaIS accouchement best paper award and continues with the closing.  

On day 3, The schedule was a one day tour of Bali Island. The Bali tour visited 4 destinations most wanted in Bali. Our keynote speaker Prof. Sureswaran Ramadass also joined the tour and almost all the onsite participants joined the tour. The tour started with visiting the Krisna Souvenir Shop, the next destination was Pura Taman Ayun and Lunch at Bedugul. After the break lunch continued to Pura Ulun Danu Beratan Bedugul  the last was Pura Tanah Lot. All participants are so excited all the way through the tour because it is almost the first time they come to Bali. Along the way in Bus all participants tour talking about how magic Bali and how the culture is still used in the modern era. At the last destination, enjoying the beach in Tanah Lot also was a beautiful moment for farewell IoTaIS’2022.

It was a great success for IoTaIS’2022 to be the first hybrid conference. The conference participants, both on-site and virtual, enjoyed the experience both on-site and during the tour. In addition to that, the keynote speech and papers provided an informative and exhilarating presentation. Hopefully, we will see you at the next conference!
