On July 30, 2026, the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter held an officers’ meeting online via Zoom. The agenda for this meeting included an evaluation of the webinar series, planning for the 2026 webinar series, a discussion on strengthening collaboration with universities, the design of academic programs and the development of the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter’s role, as well as follow-up on activities.
The meeting was moderated by Dr. Alfin Hikmaturokhman, Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter for 2026. The discussion was lively and provided an opportunity for officers to share their progress and evaluations of completed activities, as well as suggestions for upcoming activities.
Ir. Firdaus, as the coordinator of technical activities, shared his opinion on the webinar series, emphasizing the need to prioritize universities that have not previously served as speakers in past webinars, as well as plans to expand connections and collaboration with the heads of telecommunications engineering departments at various universities across Indonesia. Dr. Anna Christina Situmorang, as the coordinator of government and community relations, reported on the progress of the Professional Engineers Webinar Series organized by BKE PII with the support of the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter. Dr. Wahyu Pamungkas proposed compiling a list of thesis, master’s thesis, and dissertation topics that could be offered to universities, with IEEE ComSoc Indonesia members serving as external supervisors. Information and the mentoring scheme are planned to be published on the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter website. The officers also offered various suggestions for program development, including taking the lead in introducing emerging technologies to the public and academia, as well as playing an active role in providing insights and recommendations on regulations and policies relevant to the fields of communications and telecommunications through public outreach activities.
This meeting provided a warm discussion forum that encouraged officers to share their opinions and offer suggestions for the future development of the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter’s programs. It is hoped that through this meeting, many valuable initiatives will be implemented to advance communication technology in Indonesia, not only among academics and experts, but also to have a tangible impact on Indonesian society.
