On May 20, 2026, BKE/PII, supported by the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter, hosted a webinar as part of the BKE PII Professional Engineers Series titled “Strategi Optimalisasi Infrastruktur Utilitas Nasional: Air Minum, Gas, Listrik, dan Telekomunikasi” This webinar was moderated by Dr. Ir. Anna Christina Situmorang, A.Md., S.T., M.T., IPU, ASEAN Eng., APEC Eng., who serves as the coordinator of the Government and Community Relations section at the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter. Participants in attendance came from a wide range of backgrounds, including academics and industry practitioners/engineers.

The webinar featured professional engineers as speakers. Ir. Tumpal Gultom, M.T., IPU, ASEAN Eng., APEC Eng., as Chair of the MUK BKE PII, served as the keynote speaker, opening the event by emphasizing the importance of optimizing national utility infrastructure, which encompasses drinking water, gas, electricity, and telecommunications.
The first speaker, Ir. Christiyanto, S.T., M.M., IPM, presented a session titled “Infrastruktur Pengolahan Air Minum Berbasis SCADA/PLC”. The presentation highlighted operational challenges in modern drinking water treatment facilities, the use of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) technologies to support water treatment process automation, the importance of water quality monitoring to meet national regulatory standards, and the role of real-time control and monitoring systems in enhancing the sustainability of drinking water services.
The second speaker, Ir. Emi Heru Hermanto, M.M., M.MT., presented a session titled “Integrated and Optimized Gas Management System”. He discussed strategies for integrating and optimizing the national gas distribution system through the use of digital technology. The presentation covered the implementation of real-time monitoring systems to improve operational efficiency, support more reliable energy infrastructure management, and strengthen safety and risk mitigation aspects.
