IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter Supports 5G NSA Training with NETCO

On April 11, 2026, Next Elite Telco Consultant (NETCO), in collaboration with the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter, successfully hosted an online training session titled “5G NSA Basics & Signaling Procedures.” The event was conducted with the support and participation of representatives from the IEEE ComSoc Indonesia Chapter, Dr. Alfin Hikmaturokhman, as part of the collaboration to share knowledge and insights on 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network technology.

This training aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of 5G NSA technology, particularly regarding network architecture, operating principles, and signaling procedures between the LTE network as the anchor and the NR as the secondary node. Participants were introduced to the network communication flow, ranging from initial access and connection establishment to the EN-DC (E-UTRA New Radio Dual Connectivity) mechanism, including the processes of SgNB addition, modification, and release. Additionally, this session covers concepts such as beam management, resource allocation, and the role of channels in supporting network performance. Through this training, participants are expected to understand signaling messages such as those at the RRC and MAC layers, identify network conditions, and bridge theory with real-world implementation, including in the context of network optimization, performance troubleshooting, and the analysis of KPIs commonly used in the telecommunications industry. Consequently, this activity is expected to strengthen participants’ technical foundations while enhancing their readiness to tackle challenges in the fields of radio networks, 5G deployment, and network optimization.

Based on participant statistics, this event was enthusiastically attended by students from various universities as well as employees from several companies. The trainers who are part of NETCO also come from various institutions and companies, such as Nexwave, Xiaomi, Pasifik Satelit Nusantara, Telkominfra, and Telkom University.
