IoTaIS 2023, sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society Indonesia Chapter and supported by Telkom University and the IPv6 Forum, is a groundbreaking event amalgamating industry and academia. This year’s conference adopts a “Hybrid Event” format, offering both an in-person experience at the ASTON Kuta Hotel & Residence in Bali, Indonesia, and a virtual conference platform. This unique setup includes physical keynote speeches and on-site as well as online technical paper presentations. Presenters of online technical papers are required to submit video presentations beforehand and participate in live Q&A sessions.
The conference received 86 paper submissions, but only 42 were accepted, resulting in an acceptance ratio of 59.3%. These accepted papers span five categories:
- Application and Services: 9
- Computing and Device Technologies for IoT: 5
- Connectivity for IoT: 3
- Intelligent Systems: 21
- Vertical-Oriented IoT Applications: 4
The conference commenced with a mesmerizing Balinese traditional dance and was officially opened by Dr. Faisal Budiman, this year’s conference chair. The keynote presentations were delivered by two eminent experts in their fields, chaired by Dr. Sherief Hashima:
- Prof. Dr. Igor V. Kotenko from the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPIIRAS) – Russia. Speech title: “Artificial Intelligence for Attack and Defense in Cyber Security.”
- Dr. Krishna Kumar Lahoti from Criterion Network Labs (CNLabs) – India. Speech title: “IPv6 – Empowering Digital Economies in Developing APAC Nations with IoT and AI.”
The first day saw 21 papers presented offline, divided into three on-site paper presentation sessions chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ulas Bagci, Prof. Dr. Kimiyoshi Usami, and Dr. Victor Pazmino Betancourt respectively. The second day hosted 28 online paper presentations split across two breakout rooms on Zoom. The first breakout room was chaired by Dr. Gandeva Bayu Satrya and Dr. Reza Rendian Septiawan, while the second was led by Dr. Asep Suhendi and Dr. Favian Dewanta.
On the third day, attendees enjoyed a full-day tour of Bali, offering participants and their families the opportunity to explore various captivating tourist attractions and savor authentic Balinese cuisine. This immersive experience aimed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of Balinese culture while attending the conference.
